AnotáciaThe COVID-19 pandemic has affected the entire world and in a relatively short time has grown global and has changed the behaviour of individuals and companies for more than three years now. We can observe its consequences in every sphere of life, including HRM and its components. The aim of the paper is to find out whether there were changes in the methods of training and development of employees in Slovak companies during the COVID-19 pandemic. The intention was to find out whether the number of employee training and development methods used changed during the COVID-19 pandemic, and if so, which ones were used less often during the pandemic than before the pandemic, and which ones, on the contrary, were used more often. The research was carried out using a questionnaire survey on a sample of 308 employees of Slovak companies. Statistical methods such as mean, median or mode, Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test and McNemar Test were used to analyse the answers. One of the main findings is the fact that among the interviewed employees there was a decrease in the used methods of training and development, especially in the use of workshops, coaching, mentoring and instructing. The only method that began to be used more often during the COVID-19 pandemic was e-learning.

AnotáciaThe article is focused on leadership in Slovak companies. Its aim is to analyse the perception of leadership by employees of Slovak companies and to identify the characteristics, abilities and skills that a leader should have. We carried out our own research in the form of a questionnaire survey on a sample of 508 respondents working in Slovak companies. The primary intention was to determine whether employees considered their direct supervisor to be a leader, to identify the qualities that employees look for in a leader. The most common positive qualities of a leader are generally considered to be receptivity, empathy, representativeness, helpfulness, fairness, directness, responsibility, intelligence, foresight, self-confidence, dexterity, communicativeness, decency and honesty towards subordinates and clients. On the contrary, the most common reasons why bosses were not considered leaders are the inability to work and communicate with people, the absence of natural authority and respect, disorganization of the workplace, lack of education, incompetence, absence of information about the company and the work of individual subordinates. Applying the Chi-Square Test of Independence with Cramer’s V, it has been found that there is a strong correlation between the perception of a superior as a leader and the thoughts a bout changing a job.

AnotáciaThe aim of the paper is to present the views of experts on personnel stabilization and to specify statistically significant factors that influence the decisions of employees to stay in hotels. A precondition for achieving the stated aim is to conduct a survey in the form of a structured questionnaire with managers and employees of chain and independent hotels in Slovakia. The survey was conducted in 2018. The views of managers and employees on solving problems associated with increasing fluctuation and the need to stabilize competent and efficient employees are assessed considering the current theoretical knowledge and the situation on the labor market in the Slovak hotel industry. The result of confrontation of managers and employees’ views on stabilization is the adoption of generalizing onclusions and recommendations. The realization of these recommendations will enable to achieve the improvement in personal stabilization
