Anotácia | The war was a real test for units of the Russian army. The surprise of the invasion of the enemy, the limited military contingent, the presence of the "fifth column", and the uprising of a part of the local population made the conduct of hostilities more complicated. As materials, there were involved the work "Collection of information on the losses of the Caucasian troops", documents of the ACAK, sources of personal origin, as well as pre-revolutionary literature. In addition, the foreign and Russian scientific publications on the topic of research published in recent years were used too. In the solution of research tasks there were used the traditional scientific methods of analysis, synthesis, concretization, generalization. The statistical method was of great importance in the article. With the help of it there were calculated the ratio of killed to wounded and average daily losses of Russian troops during the Russian-Persian war. There was also applied the historical-comparative method, which allowed authors to compare the losses with other military conflicts of this time, for example, with the Russian-Turkish and Caucasian wars. In conclusion, the authors stated that the Russian-Persian war by the ratio of casualties (killed, wounded, prisoners) is one of the most severe wars of the Russian Empire in the XIX century. During the conflict in 8 of the 18 clashes, the Russian army suffered losses of prisoners. The duration of the conflict was 604 days, and the losses of killed, wounded and prisoners-3967 people. The average daily losses on the Caucasian theater of operations were as follows: 2, 5 persons killed, 1, 8 persons wounded and 2, 2 prisoners. The total loss was 6, 5 people per day. However, these losses do not reflect the losses from epidemics and disease.
