This type of state investment incentives can be defined as a regional support aimed at encouraging investments in disadvantaged regions and at creating new jobs. Moreover, it represents a tool that can encourage foreign companies and investors for choosing Slovak Republic as a place for their business activities and establishment of their plants. This article deals with the main principles of investment aid in Slovak Republic that is formulated in the Act No. 561/2007 on Investment Aid. It also presents and analyses the results of the data concerning the investments aid provided to the companies between the years 2002 and 2014. Main aim of this article is to prove the effectiveness of investment aid in self-governing regions of Slovakia.
