It also aims at demonstrating the place of American literature in literary translation in Slovakia in the wake of the Velvet Revolution. The research assesses several different trends within publishing by answering such questions as: What are the most translated genres/subgenres? What are the proportions between aesthetically demanding literature and commercial/popular fiction? Who are the most widely translated American writers?
