As the analysis of the theoretical and research studies shows, it is evident that Service Learning and Global Education overlap in their learning outcomes and they both possess potential to contribute to the university internationalisation. The question is what the aims of internationalisation are in Slovak context (at the micro university level) and if they include greater understanding of a local context and diversity, as the courses are predominantly offered in English and via other foreign languages (depending on the current human resources situation) at the University. Descr. príspevky v zborníku - proceedings papers Language English Country Spain Annotation The paper deals with the issue of a declining interest in reading among teenagers as evident from a qualitative research group. This study follows up on two studies presented at the ICERI 2018 in Seville, Spain: “Theoretical Scopes of Support for Younger School-age Learners” and “Reading Enthusiasm of Pupils at Elementary School from the Perspective of Pedagogical Research.” In the context of the VEGA 1/0455/18 research project "Research and Development of Reading Enthusiasm with Younger SchoolAge Learners", we present the results of a qualitative analysis of testimonies of 13-year-old students. The question was: “If you have quit reading recently, why?” We have sorted the answers according to three basal categories. These formed an outline for research conducted among young readers. In the process of the previous stage of qualitative research via interviews with learner focus groups we identified three features or factors: 1. characters of readers, 2. the social context of readability, 3. younger learners’ reading preferences. Within this structure, we looked for an open coding of the categories of the causes that led children to quit reading or to feel that reading does not make them happy. We were also particularly interested in the testimony of the children who did not quit reading as they developed a habit of reading during childhood; we analyzed them as well. From the results, we tried to formulate grounded theory. We found out that the interest in reading during one’s leisure time persists for pupils who previously became readers at a younger age. The choice of genre, form, and electronic media are significantly changing. They consider reading as a source of both rest and knowledge; they prefer their own choice of books which often includes books for adults. The pupils who quit reading state the following reasons: reading is boring, it causes suffering, it is a loss of time. These pupils prefer other activities and other forms of leisure time opportunities. They do not see the point of reading; reading does not give them fun and pleasure. These pupils can be characterized by the sentence: “I have never read and never will.” Research findings provide inspiration and challenges for educational practice and the development of reading in primary and lower secondary education. Descr. príspevky v zborníku - proceedings papers Language English Country Italy Annotation The study is aimed at deeper analysis of educational leadership construct and competence model based leadership. It verifies empirically the potential of the Slovak school inspectors (N=24, AMage=53; SD=6,75; 12% of males) as responsible ones for the educational leaders formation in the schools by means of five practices of exemplary leadership assessment by Leadership Practices Inventory (LPI, Kouzes & Posner, 2013) and by means of psychological factors of stress coping by a standardized test of Stress profile (Nowack, 2006). The research results indicate the more an individual is aimed at problem oriented stress coping, the more s/he can inspire others by a shared vision, challenge the process, enable others to act and encourage their heart (as dimensions from LPI). These leadership practices form the basic competences of a future educational leader. The study is a part of research project “Psychological Approach to Creation, Implementation, and Verification of Educational Leader´s Competence Model Development (APVV-17-0557)”. This study with a specific research sample originated with a special request of the sample itself to facilitate their personal and competence educational leadership skills Public work category AFC No. of Archival Copy 46902 Repercussion category ĎURICOVÁ, Lenka - SOLLÁROVÁ, Eva - POLIACH, Vladimír. Descr. príspevky v zborníku - proceedings papers Language English Country Spain Annotation The paper deals with the issue of reading enthusiasm of younger learners of 9-10 years of age. This study follows up on two studies presented at the ICERI 2018 in Seville, Spain, "Theoretical Scopes of Support for Younger School-age Learners" and "Reading Enthusiasm of Pupils at Elementary School from the Perspective of Pedagogical Research." The contemporary world involves several factors regarding children’s reading interest. We established a sequential theory on the levels of children's reading maturity based on the characteristics of the reader, the social context of children's readability, and reading preferences. These factors change in the context of time, social development, and cultural and social diversity. The aim of the paper is to present the results of qualitative research on the three factors of reading interest and find out the reading preferences of contemporary Slovak 9-10-year-old learners. In this study we present some results of the VEGA 1/0455/18 research project "Research and Development of Reading Enthusiasm with Younger School-Age Learners." In our research we first analyzed three features of reading enthusiasm. In the process of qualitative research pursued through interviews with learner focus groups we identified three features or factors: 1.) reader’s features, 2.) the social context of readability, and 3.) younger learners' reading preferences. In the second step of research we analyzed in detail the younger learners' reading preferences. The learners’ answers were analyzed qualitatively by way of categorization. We focused on the content, genres, and forms preferred by current Slovak children. These results were compared with the results from similar previous research projects. We identified several sequential grounded theories: 1. Slovak younger learners prefer to read fairy-tales and real-life stories (consistent with the previous research); 2. horror is becoming one of the most preferred genres (different from the previous research); 3. in the center of younger learners' interest are books with mysterious, eerie, and scary stories and stories with explicit resistance to authority; 4. children in contemporary Slovakia prefer especially foreign literature; 5. the image of the preferred literary hero of younger learners has changed. Although so far there has been accomplished a bunch of research studies on the topic of teachers' workload, a lot of them were done via questionnaires. They gave teachers' estimates of time spent at work and about the scope of their professional activities. To avoid any misinterpretations, our research was carried out via repeated in-depth studies - ‘professiographies’. This method was chosen because professiography engages in systematically gathering, describing, analysing and evaluating professional activities with reference to personal and professional requirements for their performance.
