Para este propósito, han sido analizadas de forma sistemática cientos de unidades fraseológicas espaňolas e inglesas de uso común y sus respectivas traducciones checas. Los datos fueron extraídos del corpus paralelo checo Intercorp. The aim of the paper is to relate the sort of phraseological motivation in the source texts to the decisions taken by the translators for the goal texts (identical idioms, equivalent idioms, calques, paraphrasing...). For this purpose hundreds of commonly used English and Spanish phraseological units and their Czech translations were systematically analysed. Data were extracted from the Czech parallel corpus Intercorp Public work category AEC No. of Archival Copy 41753 Catal.org. The aim of this paper is to take a first step towards the question whether it is true not just that phraseology preserves the way a given culture understands the world (or understood it in the past), but if it works the other way round, i.e., if people using/knowing CFUs involving stereotypes – in this case, Czech idioms and collocations regarding nations and ethnic groups – tend to extend these stereotypes and attitudes beyond the linguistic sphere URL Link na zdrojový dokument Public work category ADM No. of Archival Copy 35386 Catal.org.
