Malachov Ľubietová Language English Country Slovak Republic systematics 504 Annotation This paper presents an overview of the species composition of bryophytes on two abandoned mine heaps (Veľká Studňa near Malachov and Podlipa in Ľubietová) near Banská Bystrica with different mineralogical content of the substrate. Mine heap Veľká Studňa is a remnant of mercury mining and mine heap Podlipa of copper mining. A total of 127 phytosociological relevés were made on both mine heaps (68 on Veľká Studňa and 59 on Podlipa) with a standard surface size of 1m2. A total of 91 bryophyte species (81 mosses and 10 liverworts) were recorded where both mine heaps had similar number of recorded species with Podlipa being slightly species-richer (58 recorded species) than Veľká Studňa (a total of 55 species). 33 bryophyte species were present only on Veľká Studňa, 36 only on Podlipa, while 22 species were mutual for both mine heaps. Species occurring in relevés most frequently were Brachythecium rivulare, Ceratodon purpureus, Dicranum scoparium and Pleurozium schreberi. Species with the highest cover were Tortella inclinata and Brachythecium salebrosum, Bryum pseudotriquetrum and Calliergonella cuspidata on Veľká Studňa and Brachythecium albicans, Plagiomnium affine and Racomitrium canescens on Podlipa. Helodium blandowii found on Podlipa belongs to endangered species and Hypnum callichroum found on Veľká Studňa to vulnerable species in Slovakia. Both mine heaps are characterized by a high diversity and a relatively high abundance of bryophytes, which on these habitats play an important role, especially in initial stages of secondary succession Public work category AFD No. of Archival Copy 41804 Catal.org. Slovensko stredné Language Slovak Country Czech Republic systematics 58 Annotation Species composition and occurrence of bryophytes within alder-dominated forest vegetation in central Slovakia is presented. Although variation of species richness among the sites is considerable, the moss layer plays an important role in the community structure. Altogether 75 bryophytes species (13 liverworts and 62 mosses) were documented on 126 localities with diverse moisture properties during the vegetation periods 2009–2011. The most interesting finding is that of Sphagnum contortum. Special attention was given to discussion of species linkage either on vegetation type or present region. Several of mosses have a significant diagnostic value for the studied both vegetation types and region Public work category ADE No. of Archival Copy 20940 Catal.org. Radvaň (Banská Bystrica, Slovensko) Language Slovak Country Slovak Republic systematics 58 Annotation There is almost absent a botanical research of the forests of the secondary origine in Slovakia. An attention is led especially to the herbaceous and arboreous layers, the bryophytes are monitored only exceptionally. In this paper there are presented the results of the research of the bryophytes in the secondary forests in the broader surroundings of the town of Banská Bystrica (middle Slovakia). In 57 localities with various types of subsoil there were found 41 species of bryophytes (38 mosses and 3 liverworts). Most of them represent common species distributed in whole Slovakia. Besides the survey of the found species there are presented their ecological and chorological characteristics as well Public work category AED No. of Archival Copy 12630 Catal.org.
