Annotation© 2016, Univerzitet u Travniku. All rights reserved. The aim of this contribution is to find out and compare the level of general physical performance and the level of physical development of 7 14-year-old children in Banská Bystrica and compare them with measurements from the whole Slovakia. We tested 7, 10, and 14-year-old children from primary schools in Banská Bystrica: 492 children at the age of 7, including 252 boys and 240 girls, 433 children at the age of 10, including 220 boys and 213 girls, 301 children at the age of 14, including 164 boys and 137 girls. The following indicators of general physical performance were monitored: sit-and-reach, standing long jump, situps, flexed arm hang, shuttle run 4 x 10 m, endurance shuttle run. Also basic somatic indicators such as body height, body weight and BMI were found out. The boys from Banská Bystrica achieved better level in 5 tests of general physical performance than girls. The girls achieved statistically better level of trunk flexibility in all age categories and the difference in favor of girls is steadily increasing. Physical development of boys and girls in younger school age is similar. After the tenth year, we found out rapid development more significant for boys. In comparison with the previous research on the whole Slovak population 20years ago, we noted a lower level of general physical performance, except the flexed arm hang test but a higher level of physical development of group of boys and girls from Banská Bystrica.

Annotation© 2016, Univerzitet u Travniku. All rights reserved. The aim of the present study was to analyze the influence of oxygen concentrate inhalation on underwater swimming performance in students from the Department of Physical Education and Sports in BanskáBystrica. The test group consisted of 17 students (9 males: age = 21.14± 1.78 years, height= 176.4± 6.3 cm, weight= 66.2 ± 8.7 kg, and 8 women: age = 20.98± 1.54 years, height= 169.2± 4.2 cm, weight= 60.6± 4.5 kg). The test group carried out the testing over two consecutive days, where their task was to inhale oxygen concentrate/placebo for 2 minutes after a 5-minute collective warm-up and 500 meters of swimming. Subsequently, the role of the test group was to swim the maximum distance underwater with one inspiration and simultaneously push off the edge of the pool. Paired-Samples T-test (t, a = 0.05) was used to establish the significance of differences between the distance of underwater swimming after oxygen concentrate inhalation and distance after the application of the placebo. Cohen’s coefficient “d” was used for the calculation of effect size. Statistical analysis was realized with software IBM® SPSS® Statistics V19. The test results showed the average individual differences between oxygen and placebo of 6.89% (2.3 meters). Statistical analysis proved that the difference between the distance after oxygen concentrate inhalation and after the application of the placebo was significant (t(16) =10.101, p < 0.05, d = 2.45 – large effect).

Annotation© 2016, Univerzitet u Travniku. All rights reserved. Life satisfaction (LS) is among other factors strongly influenced by an individual’s health status. The aim of this study was to compare the satisfaction with life scores between active and inactive members of the population with different health statuses. Participants (n=664) were divided into two groups based on their health status: a) healthy population (HP,n=313,female=126); and b) people with non-communicable diseases (NCDs; n=351; female=185). The Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) between active and inactive individuals of the population (HP,NCDs) was used. Quantitative variables were presented as the mean of the standard deviation and range. The Pearson chi-square test was used to determine the differences between active and inactive within each population group. We found that the lowest level of LS was presented by inactive people with NCDs with 20.8±7.8 points indicating that this group have neutral LS.

Annotation© 2016,Univerzitet u Travniku. All rights reserved. The aim of the study was to diagnose and analyse the changes in functional parameters and physical performance during phases of menstruation cycles of female university students. The experimental sample consisted of three female university students (age = 23.8±0.6 years) who had a regular menstruation cycle (MC) with the length of 28 days. The functional status of the students was diagnosed by the Ruffier functional test. Parameters of the physical performance were two chosen tests: reaction time (RT) measured by FiTRO Agility Check device; tapping frequency (TFLL) measured by a FiTRO tapping device. The best functional status of each student was diagnosed in the III. phase (ovulation). Each student achieved the best physical performance in RT test during the II. phase of the menstruation cycle (post menstruation, follicular). Student 1 and student 2 proved the best physical performance in the TFLL test during the II. phase of the menstruation cycle (post menstruation, follicular). Except mentioned parameters we detected and analysed the subjective feelings, which helped us in further results’ interpretation. Our probe is a preliminary study to monitor possible variations in chosen parameters of physical performance and functional parameter.
