AnnotationMicrocontrollers are becoming more and more popular at people of all ages. Microcontroller Arduino is widespread in the world. As it turned out at our Department of Computer Science, learning Arduino for beginners is sometimes difficult because working with Arduino requires some knowledge of hardware parts and programming skills. For beginners we teach, the most appropriate device is an educational board BBC micro:bit which offers programming in three different programming languages (block-coding similar to Scratch, JavaScript and MicroPython). Comparing to Arduino, different hardware components can be attached to BBC micro:bit, too. The board micro:bit consists of 25 individually-programmable LEDs, 2 programmable buttons, physical connection pins, light and temperature sensors, motion sensors, Bluetooth and many others. The article presents our experience with using this educational board BBC micro:bit to teaching programming at our extracurricular activity at the Department of Comput

AnnotationNowadays, it is not an easy way to motivate young people to learning Computer Science. Many times, we can hear in our country that employees working in the field of computer science are well-paid above the average. Nevertheless, there is still a deficiency and it does not cause enough motivation to learn this field. Sometimes just hearing "programming" is a demotivation itself. We would like to refuse the opinion that programming is not funny. In our mind, one of possible solutions could be robots which are able to be programmed through simple programming languages. Many researches show that using robots in the process of teaching programming increase motivation, logical and algorithmic thinking of students. The article deals with the programmable robot Phiro Unplugged PRO which is suitable for educational purposes within programming. Phiro Pro robot offers five different ways of programming depending on difficulty simple sequential programming, swish cards, Scratch, Phiro Code, and Sn

Annotation© 2018, IFIP International Federation for Information Processing. Technologies in the current world are constantly changing. These changes are also reflected in teaching process. Computer Science subject uses mostly programming language Scratch in Slovak schools. We wanted to try out a new tool for pupils as a way for programming and STEM education – modular and programmable drone Airblock. In this contribution we wanted to present this drone which we think is suitable for teaching programming. Drones are very popular among people and that was the reason why we think drones can be used as a motivational tool in order to teach programming at schools. This was done by the extracurricular activity at the Matej Bel University and the pupils were from lower secondary schools in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia. The pupils developed many buttons with different behaviours. The Airblock drone could fly without pre-programmed buttons. The subject matter of this article is a presentation of robotic toy

Všetky metodiky boli úspešne overené prostredníctvom dotazníkov a následným rozhovorom so žiakmi danej školy. The article deals with the examples of new possibilities of multimedia usage in secondary school education. We have prepared few interesting methods for students of 5th, 6th, and 7th degree, which were verified within informatics extracurricular activity in the Primary school of Ján Bakoss in Banská Bystrica. Fifth graders have tried creating the animation "scanimation", which is striped, distributed picture made of more pictures that after going through striped paper creates effect of animation. Other students were creating invitations for carnival in the program Face Rig, where it was based on detection of face and facial parts. Sixth graders have created their own custom "hologram" based on the task with presentation and custom video. Finally, the seventh graders were creating school TV news, where they could show not only the ability of working with video (working with camera and editing software), but also they could try out their communicational and presentational skills (working with microphone in front of camera). All the methods were successfully verified via survey and the following interview with the students of that school.

AnnotationV príspevku prezentujeme proces tvorby a realizácie študentského projektu, ktorý autorka rieši v rámci Komenského inštitútu a v spolupráci s Katedrou informatiky Fakulty prírodných vied Univerzity Mateja Bela v Banskej Bystrici. Naši študenti majú takto možnosť aktívne pracovať so žiakmi základných škôl už od prvého ročníka bakalárskeho štúdia. Ukazovateľmi progresu zúčastnených študentov sú reflexia, sebareflexia a posudzovanie jednotlivých pedagogických kompetencií cez posudzovacie škály. Realizáciou tohto projektu sa študentom učiteľstva informatiky vytvoril priestor na bližšie spoznanie svojej budúcej profesie – učiteľstva informatiky už od začiatku štúdia. In the paper we present the process of creating and realizing student project, which is solved within the Comenius Institute and in cooperation with the Department of Informatics of the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica. We present international trends in the field of pedagogical practice of future teachers. We came out from them on the design of our micro-project: Computer Science extracurricular activity. We have involved 75% of future Computer Science teachers of all grades from our faculty. So our students have the opportunity to work actively with elementary school pupils from the beginning of their bachelor study in the space of the Department of Informatics this way. Indicators of the progress of the participating students are reflection, self-reflection and assessment of individual pedagogical competences through assessment scales. By implementing this project, students – future teachers of Computer Science have a space to learn more about their future profession from the very beginning of their studies.

AnnotationThis contribution informs about the importance of STEM education and our experiences at Matej Bel University and Jan Bakoss primary and lower secondary school. We chose Computer Science as an appropriate subject where STEM education can be suitably added. Tangible technological devices such as Parrot Jumping Sumo drone or Airblock drone were used among students aged 8-12. We were observing two focus groups and their motivation between highly motivated students in Computer Science and "ordinary" students.
