Design: Literature review and questionnaire research were conducted among 811 Polish and Slovak companies. The possibility of comparing these countries resulted mainly from the fact that both countries underwent transformation at the beginning of the 1990s and were struggling with similar problems resulting from political, economic, social and cultural changes. Findings: The paper presents the results of research on job descriptions, evaluation of employees, financing employee development and employing talented and intercultural people. The analysis and assessment of data obtained in the course of research has proved the existence of statisticall significant differences in selected elements of the system of HRM in Slovak and Polish companies. Practical Implications: For employees of HR departments, the results of the conducted research may indicate the directions of changes to clarify expectations for employees, ways to use the employee evaluation, financing employee development and employment of talents and people with intercultural skills. For business owners and management staff, the results of conducted research may be helpful in determining the consistency of the general strategy of the company with the adopted HRM strategy in the company and to indicate the directions of future changes in the HRM system in order to achieve compliance of these strategies. Originality Value: The findings allowed to suggest relevant recommendations for Slovak and Polish companies. A comparison of activities related to the functioning of selected aspects of the HRM system provided an opportunity to exchange good practices and experiences. This paper also indicates the need to constantly monitor the entire HRM process and its individual elements in the company. Descr. články - journal articles Language English Country Croatia Annotation The current stage of our society’s development is characterized by the escalating effects of globalization worldwide. It is also a significantly reflected in personnel work in the companies. Working in an international environment is demanding and requires collaboration among people of different cultures. Local policies used and accepted in domestic enterprises is gradually changing - it is internationalized. There are also changes in the approaches of multinational companies to human resources management. The purpose of the paper is to present the views of experts on international human resources management, assessed by several authors, and to adopt evaluation opinions. We assume that the differentiated approaches of the multinational (parent) company to the subsidiaries influence the degree of convergence and divergence in management. The theoretical knowledge will be supported by the results of the survey conducted in 2018 in 271 companies in Slovakia selected on the basis of their international scope and long-term performance. The expected result is to verify the dependence between the chosen approach to human resources management and the competence of subsidiaries in designing and implementation of standards, norms and directives using the Pearson chi-square test URL Link na plný text Public work category ADE No. of Archival Copy 46701 Repercussion category JAMES, Stephen - BARUTI, H. The national economy is influenced by the global environment which creates and changes conditions for working people. Employees get opportunities for the development and gaining intercultural competences by working in a multinational company. It also brings advanced technologies, know-how, business partners and other important organizational elements and their cultural and social differences. The demand for employees and managers, who are able to work in a multicultural area increases as well as demands on their abilities and skills. Motion of people, information, ideas, products and innovations through different countries requires competent and flexible managers who are able to manage diversity, to deal with unexpected situations, to manage the work of employees of different cultures and to quickly adapt to dynamically changing conditions. Therefore, human resources management in multinational companies gets international dimension induced by the actions taken in the intercultural environment. The aim of this paper is to present the views of domestic and foreign experts in international human resources management. It is based on the comparison of the theoretical knowledge with the results of survey among managers of selected enterprises belonging to multinational companies in Slovak Republic URL Link na zdrojový dokument Public work category AFD No. of Archival Copy 41989 Repercussion category MUSOVÁ, Zdenka - MATIOVÁ, Veronika. Competence of managers is a prerequisite for the development and efficient utilization of the funds invested in the realization of the products demanded by the market. Successful fulfilment of this goal depends on the ability of managers / owners to acquire exploit and develop all enterprise resources, including human resources. Human resource management is the reflection and outcome of managerial work. It is not enough to highlight the importance of employees, it is important to look for them, to support those who are strategic and high performing for the enterprise. It is thus essential to create an environment that motivates employees to work better and change their behavior. Verification of the above axiom will not be undertaken without conducting a survey that moves our considerations on human resource management further. The aim of the paper is to present the views of domestic and foreign experts on the importance of human resources in management processes, to recommend best practice approaches in the management of successful enterprises. Theoretical knowledge is the subject of comparison with the results of sociological inquiry in a questionnaire made in 2017 with 381 respondents responsible for personnel work in selected enterprises in Slovakia.
