AnnotationThe paper focuses on the linguistic picture of the body in the poetry of Emily Dickinson. The study is realized in the field of cognitive ethnolinguistics, employing the method of cognitive definition reconstruction through facet parametrization applied to selected poetic texts with regard to the artist’s perception of the world, and to the cultural and literary norms present in 19th-century American society. The author of the paper identifies four main facets which create a uniform picture of how Dickinson conveyed her perception of the human body in her poetic work.
