There are various reasons for this; mostly it is the interference of social, economic, political, religious, and cultural problems, mainly those that have not been solved for a long time. Extremism is not a new phenomenon; it has always been connected to crises domestic and/or international. To pursue their goals and requirement, supporters of extremism often use methods based on force. Against the violence of different groups feeling themselves discriminated, the humanist idea, well proved in the human history can be applied the idea of pacifism. The aim of the study is therefore to analyse the idea of pacifism, its creative potential, and possible contribution to contemporary modern society and its value system. In European thinking, causes and consequences of structural violence, inner peace, human responsibility to protect and the creative role of non-violence in human history, were insufficiently elaborated. Pacifism is open, very similarly to the concepts of freedom and justice. It is one of the few movements or ideologies that tolerates diversity either in the national, religious, cultural or social spheres. In this context, pacifism also appears to be a suitable barrier for rising of extremism. It includes both argumentation and implementation tools. In practice, this means that it should be part of educational and human-rights projects implemented from the basic levels of education. The ideas of pacifism are historically verified within intercultural context.URLPublic work categoryNo. of Archival Copy42562Catal.org.BB301 - Univerzitná knižnica Univerzity Mateja Bela v Banskej BystriciDatabasexpca - PUBLIKAČNÁ ČINNOSŤarticle
