AnnotationThe ability to acquire, create and effectively utilize knowledge that lead to the creation of innovation appears to be an increasingly important source of competitiveness. A connection has been shown between creativity and innovation. Here we use CIS data for the creative industries in the Czech Republic to show that the collaboration of creative enterprises leads to a more efficient use of knowledge than if enterprises do not collaborate. We present empirical evidence that knowledge spillovers have a positive effect on innovation in creative industries. We show that the positive effect of knowledge spillovers on innovation is greater for enterprises employing both in-house and external individuals with creative skills than for those employing either in-house or external ones. Using fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis, we find that the above mentioned effects are mostly third-part effects, requiring both knowledge acquisition and collaboration on innovative activities.
