The issue of political representation of regions is a very interesting topic in the specific conditions of the electoral system in Slovakia (the whole country being a single constituency). The article offers an original methodology, on the basis of which it is possible to identify the pattern of regional distribution of candidates of the political parties. We identified a positive correlation between this patterns and the spatial voting patterns found in most political parties. At the same time, the pattern of real political representation of the regions was analysed based on the number of elected deputies. When looking at the pattern at the national level, the capital city region clearly dominates. At the lower regional level there is a domination of the districts with the regional cities, i.e. the metropolitan regions.
