The position of Slovakia is based on the principle of territorial integrity, a key principle of international law. However, the country's position strongly rejecting the independence of Kosovo, has found little support in the EU. Slovakia shares the conviction of illegitimacy of the Kosovar independence with only a handful of other EU mamber states. The position is also weakened because the big three of the EU - France, Germany and the UK are among the strongest proponents of Kosovo independence. Res. angl.
