AnnotationEffective supply of well educated and trained mental health care personnel is at the foundation of quality care. Human resources and professional education are structured with a legal and financial framework, which are somewhat difficult to change. They also exist within a cultural environment that can be even more difficult to change. Nevertheless, both the Czech and Slovak Republics have made important reforms in the post-communist period. Current differences in the area of human resources in the two nations are an outgrowth of the different structures of mental health care services. The chapter describes all aspects of education and training of psychiatric staff
