    AnnotationAchilles tendon pain from degeneration or inflammation is called tendinopathy. The most common symptoms are pain, swelling, impaired exercise tolerance. Achilles tendon injuries also include total rupture, partial rupture and distension. Achilles tendon tendinopathy most of-ten affect runners, and a higher incidence is also found in the population with insufficient physical activity. Achilles tendon tendinopathy is divided into acute and chronic forms. Chronic Achilles tendinopathy is a com- mon injury, especially in athletes. Several therapeutic methods can be used to treat Achilles tendinopathy. The most commonly used therapeutic exercises include eccentric exercises and heave slow resistance exercise. Rehabilitation is an important part of therapy in patients with Achilles tendinopathy. Rehabilitation forms a significant part of therapy also after rupture of the Achilles tendon.
