Given the significant increase in the impact of the EU Structural Funds, the paper is focused on the assessment of efficiency of employment support. Although the evaluation of the employment is perceived as basic, the evaluation is still underdeveloped at regional level. We firstly redistributed NUTS IV regions according to the extent of support needs in the selected self-governing region. We also applied one of the efficiency evaluation methods, deadweight effect, which was measured according to the selected characteristics of firms in NUTS IV regions. The main aim of our research is to analyze the efficiency of public support of employment from the EU Structural Funds through the deadweight effect for the monitored programming period in the selected self-governing region. Our results suggest that supported employment projects (according to the deadweight effect within the region) would be implemented to a limited extent if the EU Structural Funds were not used.
