    AnnotationThe article is devoted to the study of the word-image in the story of Yu. Shestalov “When the Sun Rocked Me”, which is actualised in its title in the origi-nal metaphorical use. The word-image as a commonly used lexical unit of the language system, included in the array of artistic and folklore texts of the national culture, acts as an axiological means of embodying cultural memory and its creative interpreta-tion by the writer. The article analyses the specifics of the word-image sun inclusion of the in the aesthetic and narrative system of the work. The documentary material is a solid selection from the novella. The relevance of the article is connected with the study of the specifics of the word-image in the Russian version and the Slovak trans-ation, which is important for identifying crosslinguistic and literary connections and is implemented for the first time. The research methods are philological, stylistic – 23 – and transation analysis, frequency and text inclusion calculation and interpretation. The author comes to the conclusion about the synthetism and conceptual and axiologi-cal actualization of the word-image of the sun in the novella by Yu. Shestalov by means of plot distribution as a conceptual element of the connection between text and inter-text, surface and deep structure, traditional and author's imagery, which in the Slovak transation receives an intercultural interpretation.
